At this time, the image you watched on the screen looked much like this.

Then came FOX. The little network that could suddenly changed the game when they paid a sum equal to the gross domestic product of the former Soviet Union to broadcast NFL football. And their coverage featured an always-present FOX logo. The rest of the networks soon followed. Still, it was small, barely present and not too intrusive. Still tolerable. See...

Then the most desperate of the desperate major networks made a bold move. It happened over this very winter that continues to linger on. They added text to the bastardized cousin-fucking logo mash-up and suddenly the new abomination grew to one-third of the total height of the screen and it was less transparent and just more white in color. It went from tolerable to distracting in a few weeks. It serves no purpose other than to tell us that we should watch tomorrow. See, it sucks...

But it gets worse. Look at late 2009's screen clutter. Simply maddening.

Haha! So true, so true. Fox is the worst, especially during NFL games when they have all sorts of stupid crap popping up at the bottom of the screen at the most inopportune times.
Yeah, it bugs the shit out of me...don't they realize that they're bugging the shit out of a whole lot of people, and it's not worth putting all that crap on there like that? Of course, they probably did some in depth study, and found that the irritation works to their good...typical.
That is a total no-shitter! I notice now they have whole advertisements for upcoming shows contantly running along the bottom while I'm trying to watch some channels. Pisses the hell out of me.
BTW, your comment at my blog cracked me up. Thanks. :)
Definitely irritating.
And you have quite the imagination - amusing AND of the glass half empty variety!
What really irritates me is when they have subtitles, clearing up someone's speech impediments, and the damn advertising for a new show covers it up, so you have NO idea what that person just said...
Grrrrrr......

Good observation, Sornie. The ones that get me the most irked are the animated ads for some other show that come flying across the bottom of the screen after the return from the purported commercial break.
The way news programs and, say, sports talk shows are televised makes them nearly unwatchable to me. Maybe they're not ads, but the scroll across the bottom of the screen and the updating sidebars make me feel like I'm looking at a computer screen as driven by some ADHD teenager.
One of the many reasons why I watch almost no TV.
Ah haha!! Sornie, this is SO true. Or they will will simply have scrolling menus of what's coming up in the week/ads like when you watch CNN and the headlines scroll across the bottom.
Then we'll all have TiVo's that we pay an extra 5 buck a month to chop off the bottom ads so that we don't get annoyed by them!
Ah, behold the power of the future!!
