It's hip to be square

I'll start by apologizing for actually writing that title. I feel dirty. And lame. But mostly lame. Secondly, Costco (the alternate universe's version of Sam's Club for those unfamiliar with it) rolled out (not really) one gallon milk containers in a square format.

I guess before I go in to how uber creepy it is to drink liquids out of a square container, I'll applaud them for doing what has been done with half gallon cartons (made out of waxed cardboard, remember?) for as long as I've graced this earth with my presence. It makes sense, hell, now I'll be able to cram about six gallons of milk on to one of those funky split shelves in my stainless steel Amana ice box as opposed to four and change before this "innovation". (But where is the spout? I smell a "Good Question", DeRusha.)

But now for what it creeps me out. Square shapes creep the shit out of me. Humans aren't square. Cows aren't square. Why should humans ingest something from a cow which is conveyed in what is essentially a square container? It just isn't natural. It's sort of like square watermelons.

I bought the square thing once, and was spilling all over the place. I'm told I was pouring wrong: just tip it, don't lift it. Which will win: my inherent cheapness, or my desire to avoid spilled milk?

I think the square stuff is pretty cool. It would fit much better in the fridge for sure. I hear in Canada they actually sell milk in bags?

Not just Canada for milk in bags, the Kwik Trip convenience store down the street from my office has them too.

Good advice Jason but don't cry over spilled milk.

I am typically drawn to squares. But I get the cows not square connection. I'm going to check it out at my costco today.

Square just reminds me of some Orwellian 1984 scare...

I was once shown a square hard boiled egg with a square yolk inside. I was told it was a top secret project.

I always wonder why people like ourselves, go to Costco over and over....love all of their inventions and pretty much spend all of our money there, and don't own any Costco stock. If I would've bought some COST stock three years ago, it would've been like getting three years worth of goods (from costco).....FOR FREE!

I could really go for some square watermelon right about now.

Of course, we do not have a Costco or Cosco or whatever the hell it is in Pheasant Country....I'm just getting used to the word uber...what does that mean anyway?

Oh, I think I have a little more to apologize for than you do.

But I do have to say, there are many serious reasons to like the new containers.

Square Water Melons that would be cool. They could stack them on end caps in the store. Like 12paks of soda.
